Milbridge FM Joins Maine Harvest Bucks

Maine Harvest BucksThe Milbridge Farmers’ Market has joined the ranks of farmers’ markets that accept SNAP benefits! MFFM is pleased to be partnering with the Women’s Health Resource Library (WHRL) to bring SNAP access to the market. WHRL has long had a presence at the market, promoting its Incredible Edible Milbridge project. Now the WHRL team is taking on the Maine Harvest Bucks project, having signed up for an FNS# with the USDA, acquired an EBT device through MFFM’s low-cost equipment program, and begun training an intern to staff the booth. Through its new info booth, the market is now accepting credit, debit, and EBT payments, and will be matching SNAP purchase with Maine Harvest Bucks (for bonus fruits and vegetables).

Also new this season, Folklore Farm will be accepting WIC checks at the market, and doubling the value of the WIC checks using vouchers similar to Maine Harvest Bucks! The WIC doubling project with Folklore Farm is part of a new pilot project, funded in part by the Broad Reach Fund. We’re excited to see both of these new programs in action in Milbridge!
